Outward bound learning has been a part and parcel of the school's ethos. Scouting for boys and girls has witnessed a renewed sense of interest over the years.
The 87th Devikulam Scout Group was started at HRS in 1989 by the then Scout Master, Mr. A. Sambath Rajan with 32 scouters which was later taken over by Mr. P. Yashvanth Mallya and Mr. K. Radhakrishanan.
The 68th Guide company began at HRS in 1990 by the Guide Captain Mrs. Jeneetha Raj with 32 guiders.
Every year, HRS scouters and guiders take part in the Devikulam District Rally at Munnar and receive an all "A" grade certificate in standard judging tests.
In addition to this, the school organizes a Scouts and Guides camp at the school premises every year for a period of 2-3 days and trains scouters and guiders in many activities like forest trekking, night tent camping, tent pitching, rock climbing, jumaring and rappelling, etc. HRS scouters and guiders have done various social service activities like cleaning the Munnar Town, planting tree saplings in and around Munnar et al.
Occasionally, the school sends the scouts and guides for adventure camps at the National Training Centre, Pachmarhi, Madhya Pradesh, which stretches out for a period of 10 days.
The HRS scouts and Guides movement is very active till date.
A Scouts & Guides Camp was held at school from 18 - 20 February 2010. The following are some of the snaps of the camp.
